Astra

We flat out loved Astra! Astra has beautifully groomed lawns and gardens, spectacular views of the Atlantic Ocean, nearby access to a nearly private beach, and a gorgeous infinity pool that drops off into the Atlantic. Unbelievably beautiful, and the price to rent the house is extremely reasonable given what you get in return. We rented Astra for a week in March 2015, attending a wedding in Barbados. Had we realized how lovely our outdoor setting was, we could have offered to host the wedding there! It was that gorgeous, and the photos don't do it justice. If you do want to entertain, the house is roomy enough plus the wrap around veranda would made a great space for a party. You also have an option to host a party by the spectacular pool, which has everything you need for a party during the day or at night. The three bedroom house was the perfect size for our family: two parents, two adult daughters. The photos on the website also do not do justice to the inside of the house, which is warmly inviting once you are there in person. (Some of the rooms have been repainted/redecorated. Also to note, the smallest bedroom has the only en suite bathroom.) No A/C, everything is open air: if you get hot, simply go out on the veranda to enjoy the fresh ocean breezes. The closeness to the Crane Resort, Bridgetown, and a couple of grocery stores meant that we easily mixed meals out with meals in. We thought we would have Junie, who maintains the house, cook for us, but we had too many wedding events going on for that to make sense. Junie herself was lovely and came every day to clean and make sure everything was in order. She made one dinner for us, and it was delicious. We are SCUBA divers and the jaunt up to the Hilton on the Western side of the island for diving with Barbados Blue was an easy drive. We also liked being close to the airport, for a number of different reasons. (Go to the Concorde Museum if you have an extra hour to kill before your flight leaves. It had a little bit of something interesting for everyone.) Finally, we received excellent service from Gillian and Lynn at the Ronald Stoute agency. I cannot recommend them too highly if you are renting in Barbados. Lovely people, they were very professional and patient with all my questions beforehand. In fact, everyone we dealt with in Barbados couldn't have been more genuinely friendly. We had a wonderful stay and hope to return to Astra again! Penelope & Ross

Astra villa provided an amazing experience for my wife and I that we will never forget. The location is beautiful and private, with stunning cliff and coastal views of the ocean. We were so blown away by the pictures that we decided to have our wedding there! On the day of our wedding, all of the guests shared our same sentiments, also saying they didn’t know a place like this existed in Barbados. : ) During our stay we enjoyed waking up to the ocean sounds and beautiful sunrise. Gillian and the team at Ronald Stoute were quickly accessible, and consistently took care of our questions in less than 24 hours. Junie the housekeeper was there daily to make sure everything was well maintained for us in the villa. She is a true gem and has the heart of an angel :) A team of gardeners were also present daily, looking after the lush greenery with care and precision. We were pleased with choosing Astra for our holiday and the location for our union. We would highly recommend this villa to others.
